![]() Two more months to go for the year 2017, Many progresses and reflections to be hopeful for 2018. Here are some test prints for my woodblock 101-ish start. I have a strong fascination to Shiko Munakata woodblock prints, simultaneously a powerful and gentle visual beauty. His profound and insightful eyes, in addition to purely humorous layers, are so appealing to my heart and I learn so my things from his works, merely looking at them. My woodblock will not (I know for sure) be what "traditionally" people are accustomed to see, meeting lines with multiple colors, being precise, and etc. I even directly draw my designs on plates with sumi ink with a Japanese calligraphy brush for curving so that the lines are "naturally" uneven which possess sumi ike-painting-like effect. I will see how this direction will take a place but so far I am pretty thrilled about this new printmaking chapter. Life is good and keep on printing.
